Introducing: Vide

A focused guide to New York's cultural life

Dear friends and readers,

I’m writing to share a project that I hope you’ll check out:

With Jay Sanders and Olivia Shao, I’ve been editing a new website for art writing and event listings called Vide. The impulse for the site came from a desire for a focused guide to some of what’s happening across New York City’s cultural life. As many of you know, in recent years it’s become hard to get a clear view of this, as venues for art writing have subsided.

Vide has many wonderful writers already in the mix. It’s a free, useful way to see what artists and spaces across the city are up to. I hope you’ll bookmark or add it to your phone’s home screen. New entries will be added monthly.

In other news, the paperback edition of The War of Art: A History of Artists’ Protest in America is now available for preorder and will be published in June. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you. Finally, here’s my review of the Whitney Biennial for Frieze.
